Save The Last Dance is the story of Sara, a white, teenage ballerina who moves to live with her estranged father in a predominately black, Chicago neighborhood after the death of her mother. After her mothers death, Sara had given up entirely on dancing and her dream to attend Julliard. As she tries to fit in in this strange new environment, she meets Derek, a black student who rekindles her passion for dancing, and they fall in love with each other. They soon find that their inter-racial relationship is not accepted by their peers and they must persevere to be together and to follow their dreams.
This movie is a great example of holding on to what you believe, working towards your goals and overcoming obstacles and adversity.
